Turkey’s IT And Communications Authority Blocks Instagram

In a surprising move, Turkey’s Information Technologies and Communication Authority (ITCA) has blocked access to Instagram, without stating a reason or duration for the ban.
It was done after Fahrettin Altun, the communications director of the Turkish presidency criticized the platform for blocking condolence posts on the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, a key official of Hamas, a Palestinian militant group.
While stating that the Meta Platform’ Instagram did not cite policy violations for its action, Altun posted on X, "This is censorship, pure and simple.”
