Nishimura & Asahi forges alliance with WM Leong & Co to strengthen its Asia presence
Japanese Big Five firm Nishimura & Asahi has an existing presence in multiple Southeast Asian countries
Nishimura & Asahi, a Japanese Big Five firm, has formed a strategic alliance with WM Leong & Co, a Malaysian firm, to expand its presence in the Southeast Asian region. The alliance will be led by Daisuke Maeshiro, a partner at Nishimura's Singapore office.
This alliance will allow access to a wide range of legal services, including M&A, general corporate, labour law, dispute resolution and crisis management in Malaysia, where a high market growth is anticipated. With this expanded capability, both the firms will work in close collaboration with Nishimura's Singapore office. WM Leong & Co alongwith Nishimura's wide network of offices throughout Asia and beyond, will continue to work with external local firms in Malaysia.
WM Leong & Co was founded by Wan May Leong, a lawyer who specializes in M&A and corporate/commercial matters. She previously worked at Nishimura & Asahi's Singapore office and before that, she was at Zaid Ibrahim & Co in Malaysia.
Nishimura & Asahi has an existing presence in multiple Southeast Asian countries, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Singapore, Yangon, Bangkok, and Jakarta through its alliance with Walalangi & Partners. The recent alliance with WM Leong & Co in Malaysia marks its latest expansion in the region.
Further to the alliance, Nishimura & Asahi Partner Daisuke Maeshiro, who has handled multiple cross-border Malaysian deals, together with other lawyers based in out of Singapore office, will work closely with WM Leong & Co as an integrated team to assist the clients with their expansion of business.
