Clifford Chance Strengthens its US Energy & Infrastructure Team with Key Appointments in Houston
Clifford Chance, a global law firm, has expanded its Energy & Infrastructure team in the US by hiring corporate M&A partner Cephas Sekhar to its Houston office. Sekhar's appointment brings the Houston team to 11 partners since its opening in June.
Sekhar has a diverse portfolio of clients, both from the public and private sectors, hailing from various industries. His expertise extends to complex transactions covering the entire range of M&A activities. This includes strategic mergers, joint ventures, take-privates, divisional carve-outs, and cross-border affairs. Additionally, he provides valuable guidance to clients in negotiating partnership and LLC agreements, handling debt and equity offerings, ensuring compliance with securities laws, and enhancing corporate governance practices. Sekhar's notable track record underscores his extensive experience in transactions within the energy sector, including a focus on energy transition initiatives, as well as in the technology, healthcare, and life sciences domains.
Sekhar is accompanied by counsel Kyle Kreshover, whose primary legal focus centres on a broad spectrum of M&A transactions within the energy and infrastructure sector. Kyle's expertise spans midstream oil and gas, LNG, energy transition initiatives, renewable power generation and storage, as well as telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and technology.
The Regional Managing Partner for the Americas, Sharis Pozen, stated that this announcement represents an extension of the remarkable progress achieved by the firm after the launch in Houston. As the expansion efforts continue, Sekhar’s impressive experience, which includes prior collaboration with members of the Houston team, will provide immediate value to clients in Texas and globally. Coupled with Kreshover’s extensive background in various M&A and corporate transactions, it is evident that the firm is strategically growing to address the escalating demands of clients in the thriving energy market.
“The opening of Clifford Chance’s Houston operations is impressive in terms of the remarkable talent of the team. I’m delighted to join such a vibrant group as we combine our local knowledge with the firm’s vast global platform and its deep connections with the energy industry,” Sekhar said.
Kreshover stated that he is already witnessing remarkable opportunities to link his clients with an outstanding team. He finds it thrilling to have the chance to exchange insights within such an expansive network while collectively addressing the challenges confronting clients in the energy and infrastructure sector.
