DLA Piper Leads Legal Counsel for Imprint Energy's CCL Industries Deal
DLA Piper acted as legal counsel for Imprint Energy Inc. (Imprint), a startup technology firm headquartered in the United States, during its acquisition by CCL Industries (CCL), a specialised labelling and packaging solutions company based in Canada.
Imprint's exclusive technology, cantered around ultrathin, environmentally safe, and non-toxic printed batteries designed for IoT devices, sensors, and wearables, is poised to seamlessly integrate into CCL Industries. This integration marks a strategic move by CCL Industries to advance the creation of dynamically powered intelligent labels, leveraging the distinctive battery technology. The goal is to enhance the security and streamline the efficiency of shipping operations for a diverse range of stakeholders, including global corporations, government entities, small enterprises, and individual consumers.
“We were thrilled to have guided Imprint Energy from formation through this sale to CCL,” said Jonathan Axelrad (San Francisco), the DLA Piper partner who led the representation of Imprint for over 12 years.
“The global integration of new technologies into labelling will improve supply chain outcomes for businesses moving forward,” Axelrad added.
Apart from Axelrad's involvement, the deal team was spearheaded by Jinjian Huang (San Francisco), supported by partners Sarah Tauman (San Francisco) and Neil Balmert (San Diego), along with associate Daniel Cooper (San Francisco) and senior managing attorney Braden Penhoet (Seattle).
