Nishimura & Asahi Advised MUFG On $393 Million Investment In Philippine Fintech Mynt

Nishimura & Asahi has advised Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), Japan's largest banking group, on its $393 million investment in Philippine fintech company Mynt, securing an 8% stake in the firm.

Mynt, also known as Globe Fintech Innovations, is the operator of GCash, the Philippines' leading e-wallet brand and a potential IPO candidate. The Philippines has emerged as one of the fastest-growing fintech markets in Southeast Asia, with a significant increase in digital service adoption during the pandemic,


Mynt is a joint venture involving Alibaba's Ant Group, Philippine conglomerate Ayala, and Globe Telecom.

The Nishimura & Asahi advisory team was led by Partners Yuji Shiga, Masataka Sato, and Susumu Tanizawa.
