King & Spalding has represented e& (formerly Etisalat) on its entry into a pivotal Artificial Intelligence (AI) joint venture (JV) with SK Telecom, Deutsche Telekom, Singtel and SoftBank Corp.
e& and the founding parties have formed the Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA) to co-develop and launch multilingual Large Language Models (Telco LLM) tailored to the telecommunication companies’ requirements.
The JV will have equal investments from all entities to support the telcos to improve their customer interactions. It will deploy innovative AI applications for the respective markets, enabling them to reach a global customer base of approximately 1.3 billion across 50 countries.
The Telco LLM will be multilingual including Korean, English, German, Arabic, and Bahasa.
The King & Spalding team comprised offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and London. It was led by Macky O’Sullivan, Nabil A. Issa and Mohammed Basama. They were supported by Kim Roberts and Damien Bailey.
