Suvir Sidhu elected as Punjab and Haryana Bar Council chief

He is considered the youngest chairman of any state bar council

Advocate Suvir Sidhu has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana.

While advocate Ashok Singla has been appointed, unopposed, as its Vice-Chairman, advocate Gurtej Singh Grewal is the honorary secretary.

Meanwhile, Sidhu's father Anmol Rattan Sidhu is currently serving as the Advocate-General, Punjab.

A statement issued by Malkit Singh, the Additional Secretary of the State Bar Council, "Out of the 27 members of the Bar Council, including Advocate-Generals of both the states of Punjab and Haryana, Sidhu secured 17 votes, whereas the other candidate Pravesh Yadav bagged nine votes.

The Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana is the apex body of lawyers in the states of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
