The Central government has notified the transfer of Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal from the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh to the Rajasthan High Court. Justice Mithal was appointed as Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court in December 2020.
His transfer was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India UU Lalit on September 28.
Justice Mithal was born in 1961. He graduated in from Allahabad University in 1982 and secured an L.L.B. from Meerut College in 1985.
He enrolled as an advocate in 1985 and practised in the Allahabad High Court till he was elevated as an additional judge in 2006. He took oath as a permanent judge in 2008.
