Supreme Court To Hear Online Gaming Companies' 1.12 Lakh Crore Tax Evasion Plea
The hearing has been scheduled for 5 May
The Supreme Court has taken up appeals from online gaming companies and casinos contesting Rs.1.12 lakh crore in show-cause notices from the Directorate General of the Goods and Services Tax Intelligence for alleged tax evasion.
The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala.
The counsel appearing for the companies sought an adjournment, stating they expected only a date-fixing exercise.
However, the Additional Solicitor General urged the court to commence arguments.
The judge explained that the bench reviewed only this case and was ready to proceed. He stated, "We understood the matter is being heard today, and all necessary directions were on record.”
