Debevoise Advised Taranis in its Series A2 Investment in Cool Planet Technologies

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP has advised Taranis Investment Limited (“Taranis”) in its Series A2 investment in Cool Planet Technologies (“Cool Planet”), a company focused on innovative carbon capture solutions. The company successfully raised €23.7 million in its Series A2 funding round, led by Taranis Carbon Ventures.

Cool Planet has developed advanced membrane-based technology that significantly reduces the cost of carbon capture in hard-to-abate sectors, including cement, lime, steel, energy from waste, and coal-fired power generation.

This investment validates the appeal of Cool Planet's compact, low-energy, and low-cost carbon capture solution. Other investors in the round include CRH Ventures and BlueScopeX, with participation from existing investors Eni Next, NEVA SGR (the venture capital arm of Intesa Sanpaolo Group), and Audacy Ventures.

The funding will propel Cool Planet’s goal of becoming a leading provider of highly efficient point source carbon capture solutions for industrial emissions. It will also facilitate the completion of technology demonstrations at scale and accelerate commercial deployment, including the construction of a membrane manufacturing facility.

The Debevoise team advising Taranis was led by Partner Dominic Blaxill, with support from Partner Geoffrey Burgess and Associate Mark Hume.

Additionally, Intellectual Property advice was provided by Partner Henry Lebowitz and Associate Dylan Sanders, while Employment advice was offered by International Counsel Sam Whitaker.
