Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas ropes in former SBI MD B Sriram as senior advisor to advise it
Leading law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) had added feathers to its cap with the veteran banker B Sriram joining it as Senior Advisor in Financial Institutions Group (FIG).
Sriram is seen as a complete banker with experience in all areas of banking and finance. The former Managing Director of the State Bank of India, Sriram brings on the table over 37 years of solid experience. Besides being the Managing Director of the SBI, the position that he held for four years, Sriram was also Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of IDBI Bank before his retirement. Earlier, has was also Managing Director of State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur.
"I am delighted and welcome Mr Sriram on board. The firm has very strong professional relationships with banks, financial institutions (both domestic and international) and financial investors. His presence will strengthen our offerings and further enhance our capabilities to support our Financial Institution clients," Cyril Shroff, Managing Partner, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, said.
Sriram has held Board positions in various financial subsidiaries of SBI including SBI Life Insurance, SBI General Insurance, SBI DFHI, SBI Global Factors, SBI Cap Securities and SBI Cards & Payment Services. He also served as a "Nominee Director" representing SBI on the Boards of invested companies.
Sriram led the Integrated Treasury of SBI from March 2008 to September 2011 and headed SBI's largest Retail Circle in Delhi from October 2011 to February 2013. During 1997-2001, he was posted to SBI's foreign office in Singapore with responsibility for Information Technology. From 1992 to 1997 he was responsible for Corporate Finance, Syndications and Project Appraisal at SBI Capital Markets, Mumbai.
Besides being a board member of several corporates, financial institutions including banks, Sriram continues to be a Part-Time Member of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India in addition to being a Member of the External Rating Supervision Committee, CARE Ratings Limited.
He has been on several Committees constituted by the Government of India and Reserve Bank of India in the financial sector space.
