Trilegal advised Edelweiss on Kora’s USD 75 million investment in Edelweiss Global Investment Advisors

US-based Kora Management, an existing long-term investor in the financial services conglomerate Edelweiss, has committed to invest $75 million (around Rs. 525 crore) in the group’s advisory business Edelweiss Global Investment Advisors (EGIA).
According to Edelweiss group Chairman and CEO Rashesh Shah, the company’s customers will benefit immensely from Kora’s expertise in technology and financial services across emerging markets.
Kora is an investment company focused on the financial and technology sectors across emerging markets. According to Nitin Saigal, Kora’s founder and Chief Investment Officer, EGIA is well positioned in asset and wealth management and distressed debt and that the group has built a diversified financial services business in India.
Trilegal conducted a vendor due diligence exercise on Edelweiss Global Investment Advisors and advised Edelweiss on the definitive documents executed between Edelweiss and Kora.
Details of Trilegal Partners and team members involved
The transaction team of Trilegal Partners included Sridhar Gorthi, Kunal Chandra, Ganesh Rao and Aditya Jha; Counsel Yash Bansal; Senior Associates--Deep Choudhuri, Tanaya Achar, Divya Hazra and Tanya Nanda were involved in the deal. Associates Akriti Gupta and Debarati Sengupta were also part of the team.
The Diligence Team comprised of Partners Kunal Chandra, Ganesh Rao and Aditya Jha; Counsel Yash Bansal and Senior Associates Aditi Nayak, Divya Hazra, Tanya Nanda and Rayan Azmi. The concerned associates involved were Saumya Satwara, Kanika Satyan, Sharanya Sukumar, Denzil Rodrigues and Monik Damania.
The Competition Team comprised of Partner Nisha Kaur Uberoi and Counsel Akshay Nanda. The Associates included Matthew George, Rishabh Juneja, Vayshanavi Ganesh and Atreyo Banerjee.
