Naik Naik & Co Celebrates 20 Years; Inaugurates Office in Mumbai
Members of the judicial fraternity and the film industry marked their presence at the event
Naik Naik & Co celebrated 20 years by hosting a large get-together, which comprised members of the legal fraternity including former Chief Justice of India UU Lalit, and clientele such as members of the business, political, and film community. The event also marked the establishment of a new office on the first floor of Mittal Towers, B-Wing at Nariman Point in South Mumbai.
The firm already had an office in Mittal Towers but with the new setup, it now occupies an entire floor in the building with state-of-the-art infrastructure, noise-proof rooms, and ergonomic desks.
Speaking at the event, Ameet Naik, the Founding Partner highlighted, “The 20-year milestone swears by the firm’s transition from a niche TMT to a full-service practice that has expanded substantially in the corporate transaction and dispute resolution space to service our clients in diverse sectors. It offers a seamless amalgamation of industry focus and service lines. The ease with which we can maneuver both conventional and upcoming practice areas has strengthened our reputation as practice leaders.”
He added, “The state-of-the-art facilities will play a crucial role in fostering innovation and accommodating the expanding needs of our firm. The strategic relocation reflects our commitment to providing an optimal work environment for our team members that captivates innovation and productivity. We are also poised to move into a larger office space in Andheri for our joint venture with Anand and Anand.”
Former Supreme Court judge Justice AM Khanwilkar and former CJI Lalit were the chief guests at the event. The two inaugurated the new office along with Ameet Naik’s mother, Uma Bhimrao Naik.
The event commenced with a pre-recorded message from senior advocate Harish Salve conveying his wishes and congratulating the firm for its tremendous growth.
Former CJI UU Lalit apprised the gathering that Naik’s family and his hailed from Solapur and had over 60 years of relationship.
Justice Khanwilkar said that Naik’s father, the Late Bhimrao Naik, was his role model and that the family had a legacy of academics carried on by his Senior Advocate sons, Ameet Naik and Vineet Naik.
While Solicitor General Tushar Mehta congratulated Naik personally, senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi and Gopal Subramanium sent their best wishes through video recordings.
While co-hosting the event with Vineet, Ameet informed the audience that their firm operated through the senior advocate’s office in the initial years before he could afford his own space.
Advocate General for Maharashtra Dr Birendra Saraf, Additional Solicitor General Devang Vyas, and senior advocates Darius Khambata and Janak Dwarkadas were invited to speak on the occasion.
Pravin Anand, the Partner at the newly-formed entity Anand and Naik stated that Naik's calm and composed attitude brought about settlements and resolutions.
Abraham Vergis, the Managing Director of Providence Law Asia had specially flown in from Singapore for the event. Dr Lalit Bhasin, the President of the Society of Indian Law Firms was also present and spoke about the firm's growth.
Bollywood celebrities Anil Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan also graced the occasion, conveying their best wishes to the legal firm that gave them advice and representation.
Former Supreme Court judge Justice BN Srikrishna and former Bombay High Court judges Justice Arvind Sawant, Justice Dilip Bhosale, and Justice SJ Kathawalla were also present.
Others present on the occasion included Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani; Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal and wife Anita Goyal; Double Negative CEO Namit Malhotra; Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar; MLA Pratap Sarnaik, and former Communications & Information Technology and Shipping Minister of State, Milind Deora.
Other members of the film fraternity included Rohit Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Bhushan Kumar, R Balki, Vipul Shah, Rakul Preet Singh, Atul Kasbekar, and Kartik Aryan and his family.
