Honoring Fali Nariman: Saraf and Partners Launch Scholarship and Lecture Series with O.P. Jindal Global University
Saraf and Partners has joined hands with O.P. Jindal Global University to introduce the esteemed "Fali Nariman Scholarship and Annual Lecture Series." This initiative commemorates the eminent jurist Late Mr. Fali Sam Nariman and aims to foster excellence in legal education and research. The program seeks to provide support and inspiration to aspiring legal professionals.
The announcement of this collaborative venture was made at an event held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at The Oberoi in New Delhi. The gathering witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 400 attendees, including members of the judiciary, dignitaries, bureaucrats, political figures, and industry leaders.
Highlighting the evening was a captivating Poetry/Shayari Jugalbandi, led by Tushar Mehta, the Solicitor General of India, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mehta's performance was accompanied by Kapil Sibal, a prominent Indian lawyer, and politician. Additionally, a Jugalbandi session ensued, featuring the renowned poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar, alongside esteemed writer Dr. Rakhshanda Jalil. Notable cultural revivalist Muzaffar Ali engaged in a stimulating conversation with prominent columnist Suhel Seth.
Among the distinguished guests were esteemed members of the judiciary, including Justices Hrishikesh Roy and Hima Kohli of the Supreme Court of India, along with several Justices from the Delhi High Court, namely Justice Subramonium Prasad, Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, Justice Manoj Ohri, Justice Jasmeet Singh, Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma, and Justice Amit Sharma. Former Chief Justices of India, Justice (Retd.) V. N. Khare and Justice (Retd.) UU Lalit, also graced the occasion, AK Sikri, Justice (Retd.) Nageswara Rao, Justice (Retd.) Indu Malhotra, Justice (Retd.) Vineet Saran, Justice (Retd.) Hemant Gupta, Justice (Retd.) S.Ravindra Bhat (Former Justices of Supreme Court of India), Justice (Retd.) Mukul Mudgal, Justice (Retd.) Gita Mittal, Justice (Retd.) Najmi Waziri and Justice (Retd.) Jayant Nath (Former Justices of High Court).
The event was further distinguished by the presence of Virender Sehwag, a revered personality in the cricket world, who graced the occasion as an honored guest.
Further lending their eminence to the occasion were notable figures such as Mr. Bibek Debroy, Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, Mr. N.K. Singh, Chairperson of the Fifteenth Financial Commission, and Mr. Rajnish Kumar, Former Chairperson of the State Bank of India. Ambassador Ms. Savitri Kunadi, Mr. U.K. Sinha, Former Chairman of SEBI, and industry veterans including Mr. Sandip Somany, Mr. Ajay Singh, Mr. Aditya Ghosh, Mr. Naveen Jindal, and Mr. Harsh Pati Singhania were also in attendance.
Mr. Mohit Saraf, Founder & Managing Partner of Saraf and Partners, expressed his pride in launching the prestigious lecture series said, “It is our privilege to launch this prestigious lecture series to celebrate the life and work of Mr. Fali Nariman, an iconic figure, who has shaped the legal landscape of India. This scholarship series aims to support and inspire young professional minds by exposing them to contemporary issues that will shape the future of legal profession in India.”
The collaboration between Saraf and Partners and O.P. Jindal University reflects a shared commitment to nurturing talent and promoting diversity within the legal profession, with the aim of creating a more inclusive and equitable environment
