Deep & Far Attorneys-at-Law
Deep & Far Attorneys-at-Law was founded in 1992 and is one of the largest law firms in Taiwan. It is a full-service law firm with a focus on and specialisation in all aspects of intellectual property rights (IPRs). Its IPR work includes patents, trade marks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition, and/or licensing, counselling, litigation and/or transactions thereof. The firm is highly regarded and is often one of the main sources from which foreign filing orders originate.
The founder of Deep & Far, C F Tsai, is the first patent practitioner in this country and has both a technological and law background, being qualified as a local attorney-at-law. Indeed, all of the patent attorneys and patent engineers at the firm usually hold outstanding and advanced degrees and have generally graduated from one of the top five universities in the country and/or the US.
Deep & Far’s philosophy is to provide competent legal services that other firms cannot comparably provide. So how does the firm achieve this? Deep & Far does so by selecting, edifying and nurturing people who are learned in expertise, morally earnest, sincere and strictly disciplined.
Deep & Far (D&F) is willing to take challenges to prove that it is the best IP firm, and to verify its supreme competence by eg: 1) sending to D&F a pending or granted patent for its comments about how it can improve the claims; 2) sending to D&F a pending patent specification without the claims for it to draft the claims for comparison with the original claims; or 3) sending to D&F and the firm the client is currently using at the same time an initial disclosure so that the client can compare and find out where better claims are. Deep & Far assures the clients that no competitors can escape from the patent rights D&F safeguards for the clients at reasonable service fees.
Areas of practice: Deep & Far’s prominent lawyers are dedicated to providing the best quality service in IPR work. Around one half of the top 100 corporations in Taiwan have sought to patent their intellectual property, and of those, more than one fifth are clients of the firm. Furthermore, the firm has experience acting for around 60% of the hi-tech companies in the science-based industrial park located at Hsin Chu. Such companies play an important role in sustaining the booming economy of the country and entrust their IPR work to Deep & Far because of the firm’s proven track record in this field.
The firm is experienced in seeking IPR protection for its clients in more than 100 territories all over the world. It has thousands of IPR cases prosecuted before official patent offices in major industrialised countries. The firm is not only one of the most competent in dealing with IPR-related matters in Taiwan, but is also very familiar with IPR practices in other major industrialised countries. The firm is often involved in setting precedents for new claim-drafting styles.
While the firm’s IPR reputation is well known within Taiwan it now seeks to extend its services internationally. More information regarding the firm can be found at its website.
