Vishnu Shankar joins the UK Information Commissioner's Office as head of legal-regulatory enforcement
He was previously the TMT, privacy, and cybersecurity partner at Proskauer Rose
Vishnu Shankar has joined the UK Information Commissioner's Office as head of legal-regulatory enforcement in London.
Sharing his new appointment, Shankar stated, "After 15 years in Big Law, I am looking forward to enforcing the UK's civil and criminal data privacy and cybersecurity laws and advancing the public interest."
A 2005 graduate of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Shankar earned his BCL from the University of Oxford in 2007, and an LLM from the Harvard Law School in 2008.
He started his career as a judicial law clerk to the Supreme Court judge, Justice BN Srikrishna. Later, he moved to the UK and joined Covington & Burling. In 2015, he moved to Dublin to work with Mason Hayes & Curran for a year. He moved back to the UK to work at Sidley Austin for nearly five years. For the past two years, Shankar was serving as a partner at Proskauer Rose.
