Pablo Rodriguez Abelenda and his team move over from Roca & Junyent in Madrid
The US law firm Squire Patton Boggs has bagged the services of a trio of banking and finance lawyers from Roca & Junyent in Madrid to expand and bolster its financial services practice group in Spain.
Led by partner Pablo Rodriguez Abelenda, the team comprise counsel Ana Bohorquez and associate Diego de Egea.
The team focuses on a wide range of financial matters.
"Pablo is one of the leading structured finance specialists in the Spanish market. He and his team really complement and further diversify our strong financial services offering here, which, under Manuel Mingot, has gone from strength to strength in recent years," Rafael Alonso, Squire's Madrid office managing partner, said.
Abelenda was associated with Roca & Junyent for five years and head of the firm's banking and finance practice besides being a member of its board. He specialises in structured finance, regulation and general banking law, syndicated financing, direct lending, securitisations and secondary debt markets for non-performing loans. He previously had stints as a senior associate at Spanish firm Cuatrecasas and at Allen & Overy, where he worked in both its London and Madrid offices. Abelenda had started his career at the Spanish firm Broseta.
Bohorquez, a dual-qualified in Spanish and German law, advises on cross-border transactions involving German entities. Her association with Roca & Junyent lasted for four years. She had the firm from German bank IKB Deutsche Industriebank in Madrid where she was director of its legal department.
de Egea who specialises in debt refinancing was at Roca & Junyent for just under three years, arriving after a brief spell as legal counsel at Telefonica.
