The prominent tax lawyer Benjamin Rippeon joins Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP as a Partner navigate the increasingly complex tax landscape
The New York-headquartered international law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP has received a major boost with prominent tax lawyer Benjamin Rippeon joining the firm's Tax Practice as a Partner in its Washington, D.C., office.
An announcement in this regard was made on 10 March 2021.
"We are excited to welcome Benjamin to Simpson Thacher," said Bill Dougherty, Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee. "His broad experience advising on tax issues across transactional matters further enhances the Firm's capability to assist our corporate and private equity clients as they navigate the increasingly complex tax landscape," Dougherty added.
Benjamin brings along vast experience in tax planning for investment funds and strategic corporate and real estate acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations.
According to Simpson Thacher, Benjamin represents a broad range of clients, including corporations, investment funds, joint ventures, partnerships, limited liability companies and special purpose acquisition companies (SPACs) on domestic and international taxation matters.
Benjamin also specializes in advising on the formation of numerous private REITs in connection with real estate acquisitions and dispositions involving the US and non-US investors, including sovereign wealth funds.
Nancy Mehlman, Head of the firm's Tax Practice, said that Benjamin will be a great addition to their Tax Practice and will bolster the firm's ability to provide corporate and private equity clients in Washington, D.C., and around the world with commercial, strategic and creative tax advice.
Simpson Thacher is ranked among the most profitable large law firms in the world.
"Simpson Thacher's reputation for advising on the world's most significant and challenging tax matters is unmatched. The firm's global platform - particularly in private equity and real estate - is a wonderful fit for my practice and I'm thrilled to join such a distinguished team of lawyers," said Benjamin.
Multinational corporations, banks, investment funds and other sophisticated businesses seek Simpson Thacher's advice on their largest and most complex transactions. Its global team mainly works in the fields of Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity, Capital Markets, Private Funds and Real Estate Practices, among others. The firm offers its clients the full spectrum of deal and fund capabilities, which will get further strengthened with Benjamin coming on board now.
