Sameer Chugh exits Bharti Group; Vidyut Gulati takes over as General Counsel and Director – Legal
Group General Counsel of Bharti Group – Sameer Chugh has resigned from the Group. In August 2019, he was elevated as the Group General Counsel of the organisation. Before that Sameer was a Director – Legal and Regulatory at Bharti Airtel. He had joined Bharti Airtel in 2014 from Cummins India, a global power provider, as its Vice President for Legal, Secretarial and General Counsel which he had joined in 2011.
Earlier he had also worked with NCR Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., as the In-House Legal Counsel and as head of legal and regulatory in 2003 at telecoms provider BT India. Before becoming an in-house counsel, Sameer has worked with law firms like Singhania & Co. and Kochhar & Co.
Sameer has experience in cross border Mergers & Acquisitions and also transactions in various parts of the world including, the US, UK, South Africa, Singapore. He also has extensive experience in the telecom sector and has knowledge on both the B2C and B2B side of the telecom business.
Vidyut Gulati joined Bharti Enterprises (Bharti Airtel Group) in 2017 as Director – Legal from Cairn Oil and Gas where she held the position of General Counsel and Member of the Cairn Executive Committee. Before that, she was working with Shardul Amarchgand Mangaldas & Co. as Partner, Partner at their New Delhi office. She specializes in M&A, Private Equity, Project Equity and Infrastructure deals.
