They were earlier serving at local boutique firm Tabacks
Pinsent Masons has bolstered its bench in South Africa by hiring a team including David Woodhouse, Anthony Crane, Mark Thomas, Nanri Labuschagne, Annelle Kamper, and other associates.
They were all working with Tabacks. While Woodhouse (chairman) and Crane were partners, Thomas was the legal director and Labuschagne and Kamper served as senior associates.
The team has experience across practice areas including commercial and mergers and acquisitions, employment, competition, and commercial and regulatory dispute resolution.
Pinsent Masons now has more than 20 partners and legal directors based in Johannesburg, the firm’s sole office in Africa.

Woodhouse is an employment law specialist, involved in collective union disputes, chairing disciplinary enquiries and arbitrations. He has litigated in the High Court, the Supreme Court of Appeal, and Constitutional Court. He has also acted as a judge in the Labour Court.
Crane’s commercial and regulatory practice spans mergers and acquisitions, African competition law, and renewable energy projects. He advises on matters including merger approvals across Africa, compliance and training programs and anti-monopoly investigations.
Thomas advises on commercial and regulatory disputes and has litigated in the South African Superior Courts and specialist tribunals in matters related to environmental, competition, insolvency, intellectual property, and mining law.
Labuschagne specializes in High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal litigation and arbitration proceedings.
Kamper’s practice focuses on employment law.
