Luca Failla launches empoloyment law boutique – Failla & Partners in Milan
Luca Failla previously co-founded LabLaw and now launched a new employment law boutique as he is joined by a team of five senior former LabLaw colleagues
Luca Failla is a veteran Italian labour law specialist and the co-founder of Italian labour law firm LabLaw. He will assume the role of Managing Partner and is joined by five senior previous LabLaw colleagues including Elisabetta Cassaneti, Marcello Buzzini, Claudia Marasciuolo, Lorenzo Marano and Paola Salazar.
The team will primarily focus on all areas of Italian employment and labour law including acquisitions and agency agreements, contracts, disciplinary issues, executive benefits, industrial relations and restructurings, among many others aspects.
According to Failla, Italy is known for its extreme complications regarding the management of employment relationships, both for indistinct or difficult assembly of shades to understand in the regulations and potential negative consequences. It hypothetically touches both economic and public images, which companies may jeopardise if the wrong decision, or the decision not favouring employment and labour law regulations, is taken.
As employment and benefits head, Failla has spent the last two years at Deloitte Legal Italy, previously co-founded LabLaw in 2006. He and Francesco Rotondi, fellow LabLaw co-founder and managing partner led their firm into an alliance with Deloitte in September 2020. However, in September 2022, LabLaw moved to KPMG and Failla split with Deloitte to create his own boutique.
In between 2006 and 2018, Cassaneti had been with LabLaw, before joining independent Italian firm, New Labour Studio Legale and Marasciuolo. Buzzini, Deloitte's senior manager followed Failla. Marano also followed Failla to Deloitte, while Salazar is a former LabLaw colleague.
According to Failla, both national and international companies and international law firms favour to work with specialised in employment law, Italian boutique law firms. The reason behind is that they can find exclusively dedicated professionals offering thorough knowledge, competence and the highest level excellence and professionalism. These are vital for solving the relevant and multifaceted workplace issues they face every day.
