IC Universal Legal Appoints Tejesh Chitlangi and Kavitha Vijay as New Joint Managing Partners
They have been an integral part of the firm for over a decade
IC Universal Legal has announced the appointment of Tejesh Chitlangi and Kavitha Vijay as joint managing partners. They were chosen unanimously by the firm’s senior leadership team.
Chitlangi is a 2007 graduate of the National Law University, Jodhpur. He has been with the firm since 2013 and has established and led the firm’s financial services legal regulatory team out of its Mumbai office.
Vijay is a 1998 graduate of the Madras University. She has been with the firm since she founded the Chennai office in 2006. She focuses on private equity and M&A space, leading several large marquee deals.
Partha Mandal and Bheru Choudhary, the former joint managing partners who will continue to guide the firm as founding partners stated, “We congratulate Chitlangi and Vijay on their well-deserved elevation.”
They added that in relatively quick succession, the firm has become a team of over 200 lawyers, with a presence across seven major Indian cities. It was a perfect time to hand over the responsibility to the new joint managing partners to steer the firm towards even greater heights.
On her appointment, Vijay stated, “It is an honor to be asked to undertake this role along with Chitlangi. I look forward to contributing to the growth of the firm in the coming years. This appointment is just a reflection of how the firm is invested in its people and enables them to grow along with the firm. It has been an exciting and fulfilling journey, made so much more by all the faith that the team members and the clients have reposed in us.
She added, “In the coming years, our focus will be directed towards ensuring that we evolve as lawyers to meet the challenges arising from the changing landscape in legal requirements and the game-changing position that India is taking in the world.”
Chitlangi commented, “I am excited as well as privileged to have been vested with this new responsibility along with Vijay. I am immensely thankful to all the members of the firm for bestowing their trust in me. These are exciting times and having already established a solid reputation of being the numero uno player in the financial services legal-regulatory space, we will continue to provide world-class services to our clients and further strengthen our position as one of the top full-service law firms in the country.”
He further stated, “With our large pool of young talented lawyers, pan-India presence, and global ambitions, we will keep delivering excellent value for money and business-oriented legal solutions.”
