Herbert Smith Freehills Expands Energy And Infrastructure Practice With Key Partner Hires
Herbert Smith Freehills Expands Energy and Infrastructure Practice with Key Partner Hires
Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has announced the strategic hiring of two Partners, Cassandra Wee and Amit Jois, alongside an internal leadership appointment. These additions aim to bolster HSF’s Energy, Infrastructure, and Private Capital practices, which are key drivers of the firm's growth.
Cassandra and Amit will be joining the HSF Projects, Energy, and Infrastructure practice, which is led by Nick Baker, a Melbourne-based Energy and Infrastructure M&A Partner recently appointed as Managing Partner. He will succeed Toby Anderson following Anderson's term in the role.
Cassandra, based in Sydney, comes from Ashurst, bringing extensive expertise in Power, Gas, and Carbon projects, regulation, and trading. Amit, also based in Sydney, joins from Johnson Winter Slattery and has significant M&A experience advising financial sponsors in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors.
Nick Baker stated, "We continue to invest in the people and skills necessary to support clients on their Energy transition work. The hires of Cassandra and Amit enhance our capability to handle complex matters for Sponsors, Investors, and Financiers."
He highlighted that HSF now boasts over 100 Partners globally specializing in the Energy sector, with their Energy transition work contributing to a 20% growth in the region compared to the previous year. "Our investment in our Energy capability is clearly paying off, and it's a testament to our confidence that top talent like Cassandra and Amit are eager to join our team," he added.|
Cassandra is recognized for her technical excellence in Energy transactions, project structuring, development, offtake, and regulation, with experience across Asia and Australia. Amit focuses on M&A for Private Capital and Corporate clients within the Energy and Infrastructure sectors and is known for his commercial acumen and solution-driven approach.
These appointments follow the recent promotions of Energy and Infrastructure project specialists Laurelle Ko and Joseph Varghese to HSF’s Projects, Energy & Infrastructure practice in April.
