Dentons names its new Banking and Finance practice in Europe
Dentons' Milan-based partner Alessandro Fosco Fagotto takes over from Mateusz Toczyski, who has stepped down to focus on his role as Global Co-Head of Banking and Finance
Global law firm Dentons has announced the appointment of its Milan-based Partner Alessandro Fosco Fagotto as Europe Head of the Banking and Finance practice.
Dentons has said that in his new role Fagotto will be responsible for enhancing its service offering for both lenders and borrowers, facilitating cross-border collaboration, and strengthening relationships with banking clients across continental Europe and Central Asia.
Fagotto takes over from Mateusz Toczyski, who has stepped down from the European position to focus on his clients as well as his role as Global Co-Head of Banking and Finance.
"In an increasingly complex world, our clients are looking to us for sophisticated solutions to their business challenges. We offer a unique value proposition, which combines technical skills, innovation, efficiency and deep knowledge of the financial sector in key markets around the world," Fosco Fagotto, who joined Dentons in 2016, said.
"Over the last few years, Dentons has invested in significantly expanding the talent and capabilities of our Banking and Finance practice across Europe. My main focus will be to foster collaboration and develop synergies to deliver the full power and quality of our firm to our clients," Fagotto added.
Fagotto has two decades of experience in advising lenders, private equity houses, funds, investors and borrowers, on a broad range of financing transactions, including acquisition and leveraged finance, structured finance, real estate finance, general corporate lending and refinancing.
He also advises on debt restructuring transactions as well as the financing and acquisition of distressed companies. He serves as the lead partner for relationships with some of the largest financial institutions in Italy.
During Toczyski's eight-year term, Dentons' Banking and Finance practice in Europe quadrupled in terms of both revenue and headcount. The practice also expanded its geographic coverage and increased market recognition.
"Fosco Fagotto is a top-notch lawyer, recognized as a true leader in the market. He is an ideal choice to build on the incredible success achieved by the group under Mateusz Toczyski's leadership, and move our Banking and Finance practise on the continent to the next level," Tomasz Dabrowski, Europe Chief Executive Officer at Dentons, said.
Both Fagotto his market-leading Banking and Finance practice in Italy are ranked in Chambers Europe, Chambers Global, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000. He was listed among the Top 10 Financing Lawyers in EMEA by Merger Links in 2020 and has won several other awards.
