Dentons launches new energy and infrastructure projects team as Luigi Costa joins as Partner
Dentons launches new energy and infrastructure projects team as Luigi Costa joins as Partner
A new "Project, Energy and Infrastructure" team will be established in Italy thanks to the hiring of partner Luigi Costa by the international law firm Dentons in Milan's Banking and Finance office.
The formation of this new team is in response to the market demand for legal advisors capable of managing complicated projects in the expanding energy and infrastructure industry. The new product is timely in light of the energy revolution taking place across Europe and Italy's PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan).
Federico Sutti, the country's managing partner, said that with Luigi and his team on board, "the Project, Energy, and Infrastructure team will emerge as one of the major influencers in a market that is set to grow tremendously in the next years."
Luigi joins Dentons from Norton Rose Fulbright where he assisted financial institutions, investment funds, private and IPP investors, contractors, operators, and developers on infrastructure and energy projects in Italy and abroad, with a focus on finance and corporate law, and project contracting.
With him at Dentons are Ginevra Biadico, an associate, Silvia Lazzati, and Alice Bixio, a trainee. Costa and Energy partner Carsten Steinhauer will co-head the new division. Giovanni Diotallevi, an attorney specializing in Project Finance, has joined the new firm as a third partner.
Twelve experts with a wide range of complementary abilities will make up the new business unit. Assistance with project structuring and development, permits, project finance, and project bonds, mergers and acquisitions, warranty and indemnity (W&I) insurance, construction, operation and management, refurbishment, and repowering will all be provided to clients. The unit will collaborate with the Public Policy and Regulation team, a group of ten experts managed by partners Federico Vanetti and Ilaria Gobbato, on matters pertaining to regulation and administration, as well as any litigation that may arise from such matters.
"A thorough market study carried out over the previous 18 months led to the hiring of a highly regarded professional like Luigi and the establishment of the new project in Energy and Infrastructure section. Alessandro Fosco Fagotto, head of the Banking and Finance practice in Italy and Europe, said, "We will be among the few law firms able to deliver such a structured solution in this industry."
"It is an incredible honour for me to be accepted into the world's preeminent law practice. The firm's emphasis on talent development and commitment to providing full service to clients, which I feel are essential components of Dentons' success, attracted me. Together with our colleagues from around the Firm, we have created a new business unit to better serve our customers in the strategic energy and infrastructure sectors, which are undergoing unprecedented change and development right now," said Luigi Costa.
