Siraj Omar SC Departs Drew & Napier To Launch Siraj Omar LLC
Siraj Omar SC, former co-head of dispute resolution at Drew & Napier, has ventured into establishing his own law firm, Siraj Omar LLC, specializing in commercial dispute resolution. This marks a significant shift from one of Singapore's oldest and most renowned law practices.
The new firm will be jointly led by Siraj Omar and Allister Tan, who also departs his director role at Drew & Napier to join the new venture. They are joined by former Drew & Napier lawyers Larisa Cheng, Joelle Tan, Fitzgerald Hendroff, and Robbie Tan.
With 27 years of experience in trial and appellate practice, Siraj has earned recognition as a key figure in Singapore's legal landscape, handling landmark cases in banking, consumer protection, debt restructuring, and insurance. He is also an expert in international arbitration, serving on the Board of Directors of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and its Board Executive Committee. Additionally, Siraj is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and the Singapore Academy of Law.
Siraj's legal career has spanned notable roles, including rejoining Drew & Napier in 2019 after founding Premier Law, which later became RPC’s joint law venture in Singapore, and serving as a senior partner at Tan Kok Quan Partnership.
Allister Tan brings 16 years of expertise in the insurance sector, advising insurers, insureds, reinsurers, and brokers on a range of issues from coverage disputes to regulatory matters. His practice also covers commercial litigation and arbitration, with a focus on banking, contractual, fraud, and employment-related disputes.
"Our aim is to use the skills and experience garnered over almost three decades in practice to work with our clients to resolve their disputes in a manner consistent with their commercial objectives," said Siraj Omar.
Siraj Omar LLC will focus on delivering strategic solutions for high-stakes legal challenges, as outlined in the firm's statement.
