Logan Paul Faces Infringement Charges From Lionel Messi Over Energy Drink Brand
Logan Paul Faces Infringement Charges From Lionel Messi Over Energy Drink Brand
The issue surfaced in June when the product hit the market
American media influencer, entrepreneur and WWE wrestler Logan Paul is facing yet another lawsuit. This time from Lionel Messi's drink brand Mas+ over trade dress infringement allegations regarding the Prime Hydration Energy Drink.
Mark Anthony International, the distributors of Mas+ claimed anti-competitive behavior and unfair market tactics.
The issue started recently after Messi launched his energy drink brand Mas+ in four different flavors. Meanwhile, Paul's brand Prime was beginning to make its mark in the market. Therefore, the latter accused the rival brand of copying its design. It threatened Mas+ with taking legal recourse.
In retaliation, Mark, filed a lawsuit on 08 October, pleading the brand to be ‘anti-competitive’. It claimed that Prime unfairly painted the rival brand’s image adversely to monopolize the energy drink market.
To support its counter-claims, Mark surveyed to study the customer purchase patterns and see if they were confused by the two packages. The survey revealed that consumers were clear about Mas+, the brand they preferred owing to the popularity of its owner.
