White & Case Expands Hong Kong Capital Markets Reach with the Appointment of Ryan Tou
White & Case Expands Hong Kong Capital Markets Reach with the Appointment of Ryan Tou
Renowned law firm White & Case has further expanded its global capital markets practice by hiring Partner Ryan Tou, previously of counsel at Allen & Overy, in its Hong Kong office.
Tou, a legal professional with more than 10 years of experience, provides strategic counsel to issuers and investment banks regarding complex IPOs and diverse capital market transactions, alongside ensuring diligent corporate governance practices. Before joining Allen & Overy in 2018, Tou held positions at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, and Reed Smith in Hong Kong.
In a statement, White & Case emphasised that Ryan Tou's appointment strengthens their global capital markets practice, a core focus for the firm. Eugene Man, Regional Head of Asia-Pacific Banking & Capital Markets, hailed Tou's arrival as "an exciting expansion" of their service offerings for clients navigating Hong Kong IPOs and public company matters.
White & Case's Hong Kong office has experienced significant growth, with its partner count reaching 16. This expansion is bolstered by the recent appointments of two prominent legal professionals: Wilfred Ho, a disputes specialist formerly of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, and Sophie Lyall, a restructuring expert who previously served at Ashurst.
In 2023, the firm’s Hong Kong office witnessed notable changes, including the departures of Greater China disputes head Melody Chan to Allen & Overy and debt finance partner Stephen Howard to Goodwin Procter.
