Watson Farley & Williams has given a fillip to its bench in Singapore with the addition of project partner Merrick White. He is the 14th partner at the firm’s Singapore office, which has 33 lawyers.
White specializes in global oil, gas, liquefied natural gas (LNG), refining, and petrochemical project development. He advises on aspects of energy-related projects and transactions, including the acquisition and disposal of energy assets and granting upstream concession agreements.
He served as a partner at King & Spalding and Clifford Chance. Later, he joined McDermott Will & Emery as a partner, serving for three years.
In 2012, while practicing at Clifford Chance, White led the UK firm’s Singapore team in advising Nagarjuna Oil Corporation on Trafigura’s USD130 million investment into its oil refinery then being constructed in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
At King & Spalding, in 2015, he co-led a team advising BW Gas on its tender to provide Egyptian Natural Gas with LNG regasification services utilizing a floating storage regasification unit in Egypt.
