Walgreens Appoints Lanesha Minnix as New Global Chief Legal from Ecolab
Walgreens Appoints Lanesha Minnix as New Global Chief Legal from Ecolab
Walgreens Boots Alliance, a global pharmacy retailer, has appointed Lanesha Minnix as its global chief legal officer, stepping into the role previously held by Danielle Gray, who left the company earlier this year.
Minnix transitions to the Nasdaq-listed company headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, from her role as general counsel and corporate secretary at Ecolab, a company specialising in food safety.
Taking on her new role, slated to commence in mid-April, Minnix will be responsible for managing the company's worldwide legal, compliance, corporate governance, and corporate security operations. She will report directly to the newly appointed CEO, Tim Wentworth.
Additionally, Minnix will be a member of the company’s executive committee. Walgreens is the owner of the Walgreens pharmacy chain in the US and the Boots pharmacy chain in the UK.
Wentworth expressed enthusiasm about Minnix’s appointment, stating, “Lanesha is a widely respected leader and legal expert. We are thrilled to welcome her to WBA in this important role. As the healthcare and retail landscapes continue to evolve, her legal guidance and expertise will be invaluable as we expand our reach beyond neighbourhood pharmacies into other fast-growing areas of healthcare.”
Before joining Walgreens, Minnix spent nearly two years at Ecolab. Before that, she held the position of Chief Legal Officer at industrial machinery maker Flowserve Corporation. She also gained in-house experience as General Counsel at building supplies company BMC and as Deputy General Counsel at facilities manager ABM Industries.
Her legal career began with roles as senior legal counsel at Shell and corporate counsel at Sprint Nextel, after which she transitioned to private practice at K&L Gates.
Minnix expressed her eagerness to collaborate with Tim, Wentworth and the executive committee, as well as other leaders across the global legal function and the organisation. She said that her goal is to advance WBA’s business objectives, deliver sustainable value for stakeholders, and position the company for long-term success.
