Sidley Austin appoints investment funds partner Nicholas Cassin in New York
He was working with Kirkland & Ellis as a partner since 2017
Sidley Austin LLP has announced the addition of Nicholas Cassin as a partner in the investment funds group in its New York office.
A leading practitioner in the secondaries space, Cassin has extensive experience in advising buyers and fund sponsors on a full range of fund liquidity transactions across multiple alternative asset classes, including private equity, real estate, and infrastructure. He also has expertise in traditional portfolio sales, preferred equity and stapled secondaries, and GP-led fund restructurings.
Elizabeth Shea Fries, a member of the firm's executive committee, global leader of the investment funds practice, and managing partner of Sidley's Boston office remarked, "Cassin has the skills and drive to support our growing secondaries practice through his deep experience and demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships. As we continue to expand the firm's value proposition for private equity and other investment firms, Cassin will work closely with our clients and partners across our practices, including private equity, energy, and real estate sectors."
Michael Schmidtberger, the executive committee chair at Sidley Austin said, "Cassin joins a robust team working with the largest players in the investment funds business. Our lawyers have worked across the table from Cassin and have been impressed with his commitment to his clients and understanding of the active secondaries transaction market."
