Rivian Automotive appoints Michael Callahan as new Chief Legal Officer
Michael Callahan has joined Rivian Automotive, Inc. as its Chief Legal Officer, according to the company's recent announcement.
Previously, Callahan held the position of Executive Director of the Arthur and Toni Rembe Rock Center for Corporate Governance and Professor of the Practice of Law at Stanford University. Callahan was scheduled to begin his role at Rivian on February 13, reporting directly to the company's founder and CEO, RJ Scaringe.
Callahan's previous positions include senior vice president and general counsel at LinkedIn, where he held global responsibility for legal, regulatory, and public policy matters, including corporate governance.
He was also the executive vice president and chief legal officer at Ten-X and held the position of executive vice president and general counsel at Yahoo! Inc.
Before his corporate roles, Callahan served as the executive director of the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford Law School. Currently, he also sits on the board of FiscalNote, Inc.
As the chief legal officer at Rivian, Callahan will play a vital role in driving the company's expansion and sustainable success, supporting its commitment to developing products and services that facilitate new experiences and contribute to the pursuit of a lower-carbon future.
Callahan said that he was incredibly excited to be joining Rivian at this pivotal time in its growth and also for the planet.
"Rivian has demonstrated that the transition to a better world carries with it great opportunity to redefine what we consider sustainability in personal and commercial transportation, and I am eager to join RJ and his team in support of that mission," Callahan added.
Rivian's objective is to develop innovative products and services that assist in the transition of our planet towards carbon-neutral energy and transportation. The company focuses on designing, developing, and producing groundbreaking electric vehicles and accessories that cater to the consumer and commercial markets, which they directly sell to customers.
