Peter Scott gets second stint as Norton Rose Fulbright's EMEA Managing Partner
Peter Scott gets second stint as Norton Rose Fulbright's EMEA Managing Partner
Peter Scott, the EMEA managing partner of Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF), has been reappointed to serve a second three-year term. This reappointment indicates that Scott's leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic has been well-received by the organisation.
He took up his present role on April 1, 2020, as lockdowns were implemented across the world. One of his first actions was to reintroduce a flexible working scheme that the firm had previously implemented during the financial crisis. Despite initial concerns about the impact of the pandemic on the legal industry, the top law firms, including NRF, performed better than expected.
As managing partner Scott, who is a recognised expert in competition law, oversees the UK LLP, which includes offices in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, and Thailand.
One of the initial tasks that Scott undertook during his first tenure was restructuring the firm's business services operations in January 2021 which led to the loss of 132 jobs including 19 associates.
NRF under Scott made several strategic moves recently, including closing its Moscow office due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and opening a new office in Düsseldorf, its fourth office in Germany, by hiring nine lawyers from rival international law firms.
"We have made great progress over the last three years, notwithstanding wider challenges, and have a well-diversified international business with huge potential," Scott said.
Scott previously led the EMEA litigation and disputes team as well as the global antitrust and competition team at his firm. He is also a member of the City of London's Socio-Economic Diversity Taskforce and a judge for the Women and Diversity in Law Awards hosted by GLP.
