Paul Hastings appoints John Budetti as the New Global Chair of Investment Funds Practice
Paul Hastings appoints John Budetti as the New Global Chair of Investment Funds Practice
Paul Hastings, rated as a top 30 US law firm, has appointed John Budetti as a partner in New York.
Paul Hastings announced on Monday that Budetti has switched over from the rival firm Kirkland & Ellis to lead its global investment funds and private capital practice.
Paul Hastings is expected to benefit from the arrivals of Budetti and the rest since they bring rich experience in funds, private capital transactions, tax and regulatory matters.
Budetti focuses on leading private equity fund sponsors with a minimum asset of $30 billion across all classes. He also has experience advising in secondary and general partner-led transactions, co-investments, internal economic arrangements, and other funds, transactional and governance-related matters.
Budetti spent almost 17 years at Kirkland, where he was promoted to partner in 2010. His notable clients include Arlington Capital Partners and Audax Group.
He also functioned as the co-lead of the Kirkland teams that advised private equity firm Summit Partners on the first and final closing of multi-billion dollar US growth equity funds. This included one equity fundraise of 2021 worth over $8 billion.
Frank Lopez, Paul Hastings chair, has expressed confidence that the arrival of John Budetti the investment funds team would further the firm’s target of representing its asset management clients on their most important and complex matters across a broad range of asset classes and practices.
“John’s reputation and position in the investment funds market cannot be overstated – we are thrilled he has joined us,” Lopez said.
