McDermott Will & Emery Hires Baker McKenzie China Practice Head to Boost China-Europe Deals Work
McDermott Will & Emery Hires Baker McKenzie China Practice Head to Boost China-Europe Deals Work
To expand its share of outbound Chinese investment work in Europe, McDermott Will & Emery has recruited Peter Lu, a partner from Baker McKenzie, to serve as the global head of its China practice - a newly created position.
Lu has also brought along a team of legal professionals from Baker McKenzie, including counsel Tina Hartwright, associate Ennio Keyte, corporate transactions specialist Alonso de Reyes Lanfranco, and paralegal Ziye Ke.
With over 14 years of experience, Lu has advised clients on cross-border Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and litigation. He has worked with several Chinese multinationals, such as the Bank of China, China Telecom, and ICBC.
According to Harris Siskind, the global head of McDermott's transactions group based in Chicago, the addition of Lu to the team will boost the firm's reputation in the China-Europe deals market.
“China is currently the EU’s largest trading partner, and outbound investment from Chinese investors into the EU remains robust despite recent legislation on foreign direct investments in Europe,” Siskind added.
