Linklaters Bolsters Renewables and Energy Transition Practice with New US Environmental Offering
Linklaters Bolsters Renewables and Energy Transition Practice with New US Environmental Offering
Linklaters has recently welcomed Lauren Bachtel as a senior counsel in the Energy & Infrastructure Group at its New York office. She was previously associated with Mayer Brown.
This marks the fifth significant appointment for the US Energy & Infrastructure Group at Linklaters in the past five months, with the previous hires being partners Ron Erlichman, Marius Griskonis, and Judy Kwok in New York, and senior counsel Diana Jeschke in Washington, D.C.
Linklaters' Energy & Infrastructure Group co-head in the Americas, Ron Erlichman, expressed his delight at the addition of Lauren Bachtel to the firm's New York office as a senior counsel in the group. Erlichman also mentioned that the US energy transition and renewables offering of Linklaters is now unparalleled in the US and globally.
“Lauren’s unique experience in the public sector and in private practice will immensely benefit our clients as they navigate complex environmental permitting and compliance issues in addition to a rapidly evolving ESG landscape,” Ron Erlichman said.
Lauren, previously a lawyer for the US Department of the Interior and the American Wind Energy Association, advises clients on various environmental permitting and compliance matters related to different types of projects and transactions. She specialises in permitting, compliance, and litigation, with a particular focus on offshore wind projects.
Lauren has extensive experience in navigating laws such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Mineral Leasing Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
In addition, Lauren provides support to clients in developing and adhering to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) policies and programmes, environmental justice policies and programmes, as well as broader climate and carbon policies and programmes.
Linklaters is a top firm in advising on complex projects, structured transactions, and mergers in the energy and infrastructure sector globally, particularly in renewable and carbon transition projects. They are ranked Band 1 for Projects & Energy in Chambers Global 2022 and have received several awards for their work, including IJ Global's North American Power Deal of the Year, Climate Adaptation Award, and America's Renewable Energy ESG Award, among others.
