Legal Luminary Richard Maletsky Assumes Key Role at Hilco Global as EVP and General Counsel
Legal Luminary Richard Maletsky Assumes Key Role at Hilco Global as EVP and General Counsel
Hilco Global, a privately held financial services firm with diverse interests, has named Richard “Rick” Maletsky as its new Executive Vice President and General Counsel. In this role, Maletsky will succeed Eric Kaup, who is transitioning to the newly established position of Co-Chief Commercial Officer within the company. This announcement was made on Tuesday.
As the Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Maletsky will assume a critical position as the chief legal expert and advisor within the company, serving as an integral member of Hilco Global’s executive management team. In this capacity, he will take charge of the company’s legal department, overseeing all legal aspects across diverse disciplines such as corporate, commercial, transactional, litigation, product, and regulatory matters. Reporting directly to CEO and Founder Jeffrey Hecktman, Maletsky will play a central role in shaping and guiding the company's legal strategy.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rick to Hilco Global as our new EVP and General Counsel. His extensive experience and proven leadership in managing high-profile corporate legal matters will be invaluable to our organisation,” Jeffrey Hecktman said.
Maletsky brings a substantial background in legal leadership to Hilco Global, having previously held the position of Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Newmark Group, Inc., a commercial real estate services firm. In his role with the Newmark Operating Companies, he effectively managed a team of 25 legal professionals and played a key role in facilitating the company's significant expansion, transitioning from a private entity to a globally recognised market leader upon its successful public listing.
Before his tenure at Newmark, Maletsky held the position of Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at Cantor Fitzgerald, L.P., a prominent global financial services firm headquartered in New York. His legal career commenced in the mergers and acquisitions group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York.
Maletsky achieved his Juris Doctor (J.D.), graduating cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Politics and History, earning magna cum laude honours and being inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society, from Brandeis University.
