K&L Gates Straits Law Bolsters Its Corporate Capabilities In Singapore With The Addition Of Partners
K&L Gates Straits Law Bolsters Its Corporate Capabilities In Singapore With The Addition Of Partners
K&L Gates Straits Law, the Singapore office of the U.S. law firm K&L Gates, has bolstered its corporate capabilities in Singapore by welcoming Partners David Kuo and Meraj Noor from competitor DLA Piper.
Having two decades of experience, David Kuo specializes in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and corporate finance across various sectors. He particularly focuses on Asia-based clients seeking opportunities in the United States. His expertise also includes advising on private equity transactions, representing emerging companies, and handling corporate finance matters in the technology, life sciences, energy, and real estate industries.
David joined DLA from Milbank and has worked as Partner at Allen & Overy and held Associate positions, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, Bingham McCutchen, and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.
Meraj Noor, with 16 years of experience spanning Dubai, India, and Singapore, concentrates on corporate law with a focus on South Asia, particularly India-related transactions. His practice emphasizes cross-border corporate deals and capital market transactions.
Notably, Kuo and Noor recently advised India’s Hinduja Global Solutions on the $1.2 billion sale of its healthcare business to Baring Private Equity Asia. Noor spent over 16 years at DLA, where he most recently served as Deputy Chair of the firm’s India Group and earlier practiced at Amarchand Mangaldas.
This strategic move comes amid Singapore's growing status as a hub for major corporations and a launchpad for outbound investments. M Rajaram, chair of K&L Gates Straits Law, highlighted, "David and Meraj bring extensive experience and a profound understanding of the market and the needs of Indian clients, as well as clients across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond."
The Singapore office of K&L Gates Straits Law now has 17 partners.
