Karim El Tantawi to head DP World Trade Finance’s legal department
Karim El Tantawi to head DP World Trade Finance’s legal department
He was previously serving at Zand digital bank
DP World Trade Finance has appointed Karim El Tantawi as the new head of legal. Having over 13 years of experience in the legal field, he brings in a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position.
With his extensive experience in advising clients on energy, hotel management, infrastructure, investment and construction projects, El Tantawi is well-positioned to lead the legal team at DP World. He has represented clients in courts and international arbitrations under various rules, including ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, and CRCICA. His proven ability to provide sound legal advice and effective representation in disputes makes him an invaluable asset to the organization.
He was previously serving at the digital bank Zand. During his tenure, El Tantawi built an in-house digital banking legal department, demonstrating his ability to lead and build effective teams. Prior to that, he served as a senior legal manager at United Arab Bank, gaining extensive experience in transactional banking, financial institutions, corporate and investment banking, Islamic finance, securities and commodities, project finance, and trade finance.
El Tantawi has also served as an associate in banking and finance at Qatar and UAE offices of the law firm Al Tamimi & Company, advising clients on drafting and negotiating major commercial local, and international agreements and transactions. He also served as an associate at Arab Legal Consultants in Egypt. His practice focused on providing legal advice on a range of industries, including finance, banking, hotel management, real estate, FMCG, pharmaceutical, industrial, oil and gas, investment, and construction projects.
