Hogan Lovells Names Biswajit Chatterjee as New Office Managing Partner in Singapore
Hogan Lovells Names Biswajit Chatterjee as New Office Managing Partner in Singapore
Hogan Lovells, a leading global law firm, named Biswajit Chatterjee as the incoming Office Managing Partner for its Singapore office, commencing from July 1, 2023. Biswajit will succeed Alex Wong, who is transitioning out of the partnership to take on the role of Judicial Commissioner at the Singapore Supreme Court, starting from August 1, 2023.
Chatterjee, a highly skilled corporate partner qualified in both the United States and India, joined Hogan Lovells in July 2021. His practice focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity transactions. With a wealth of experience, he has provided valuable guidance to clients on cross-border corporate and finance transactions spanning diverse industries such as technology, fintech, life sciences, real estate, energy, and infrastructure.
Chatterjee possesses an in-depth understanding of the Indian market and has played a crucial role in advising on significant equity offerings in India and Southeast Asia. In addition, he assists clients with various regulatory matters, including economic sanctions, government procurement, white-collar investigations, and corporate governance.
“Through his wealth of industry experience, deep relationships and high energy, Bis has become a go-to legal adviser for our teams and clients in the region and in particular India. I have no doubt that he will continue to drive the growth of the Singapore office and raise our profile in South East Asia and the APAC region more generally, and I look forward to working with him more closely. I also want to thank Alex for his excellent work over the past 16-years at Hogan Lovells including the past three-years as the Office Managing Partner. Alex will be remembered for his genuine commitment to the firm, staff and clients, his selfless approach in always putting others first, and his great ability to promote trust and build consensus,” Lloyd Parker, Regional Managing Partner for APAC said.
“I am excited to have been appointed to this position and look forward to working with the team as we continue to build on the firm’s established reputation for doing business in Southeast Asia and India. The opportunities in these markets are vast, and aligned with our firm strengths in highly regulated sectors, such as technology and life sciences & healthcare,” Chatterjee added.
