Hogan Lovells Expands Hong Kong Team With Strategic Hires From Dechert
Hogan Lovells Expands Hong Kong Team With Strategic Hires From Dechert
Global law firm Hogan Lovells has announced a significant expansion of its Hong Kong office with the addition of two prominent Partners and three associates from Dechert. This move bolsters Hogan Lovells’ capabilities in private funds, complex disputes, and cross-border investigations across the APAC region.
Michael Wong joined the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice on 1 October 2024 as a partner in the private funds practice area, bringing two associates with him. Wong, a leading expert in alternative investment funds, specializes in the formation and structuring of private equity, private credit, and hedge funds. His expertise also spans secondaries, co-investment arrangements, and carried interest schemes, along with financial services regulatory matters.
James Doyle, Head of the Corporate & Finance practice, praised Wong’s addition, stating, “Michael’s funds and regulatory expertise aligns perfectly with our needs in China and across APAC. His arrival strengthens our ability to serve clients in key markets.”
Wong expressed enthusiasm for joining Hogan Lovells, citing the firm’s deep roots in Asia and strong U.S. regulatory practice as key factors. “The firm’s global reach and commitment to Asia provide the ideal platform for growing my practice,” he said.
Later in October, Maria Sit, former Managing Partner of Dechert’s Hong Kong office, will also join Hogan Lovells as a partner in the Litigation, Arbitration, and Employment practice, accompanied by an associate. Sit’s practice focuses on regulatory enforcement and dispute resolution, particularly in mainland China.
Des Hogan, Head of Disputes at Hogan Lovells, commented, “Maria’s two decades of commercial litigation experience significantly enhance our disputes practice, allowing us to better serve large conglomerates in the region.”
Owen Chan, Managing Partner of Hogan Lovells’ Hong Kong office, highlighted the firm’s commitment to APAC, stating, “The addition of Michael and Maria strengthens our multi-disciplinary team, enhancing our client services and opening new opportunities in Hong Kong and beyond.”
