Jinny Chaimungkalanont has been appointed as the Managing Partner of Herbert Smith Freehills' Finance practice in Asia & Australia, effective May 1, 2024. Based in Sydney, Jinny succeeds Andrew Booth, who has led the practice since 2017, navigating through the challenges posed by the pandemic.
Jinny Chaimungkalanont brings over two decades of experience to her new role as Managing Partner of Herbert Smith Freehills' Finance practice in Asia & Australia. Since joining the firm in 2012, Jinny has established herself as a trusted advisor with expertise in advising on stamp duty and various State taxes across Australia. Her extensive client portfolio encompasses a wide range of industries including real estate and development, funds management, finance, infrastructure, energy, renewables, mining, and healthcare. Jinny's leadership will ensure the continued success and growth of Herbert Smith Freehills' market-leading States taxes practice.
On her appointment, Jinny Chaimungkalanont said, “I am thrilled to be leading our outstanding Finance team across Asia and Australia, and to build on the success of Andrew’s legacy.
“It is an exciting time for the team as we continue to implement our strategic plan, with our clients at the forefront as we strive to deliver exceptional results in all areas of our finance offering.
“I will focus on fostering a connected regional team, as well as growing our practice in line with the firm’s strategic direction, including in the areas of private capital and energy transition.”
Andrew Booth shared, “It’s been a pleasure to lead the Finance team for the best part of seven years. Our team is truly outstanding, totally committed to achieving great, world-class outcomes for our clients. I have no doubt that the team will continue to go from strength to strength under Jinny’s leadership.
“I look forward to supporting Jinny in her role, and continuing to work alongside my clients in international and domestic debt capital markets and corporate finance transactions.”
