Freshfields Enhances Hong Kong Team With Tony Chow Leading Insolvency Practice
Freshfields Enhances Hong Kong Team With Tony Chow Leading Insolvency Practice
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Tony Chow from King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) to lead its contentious insolvency practice in Hong Kong.
Chow, formerly a Director of restructuring and insolvency at KWM, brings over a decade of experience handling complex financial distress cases and high-stakes disputes. His notable achievements include advising on China Evergrande Group's $23 billion offshore restructuring and leading HNA Aviation's strategic investment in Hong Kong Airlines as part of a successful $6.2 billion debt restructuring.
His client roster includes Jiangsu Zhongnan Construction Group, Credit Suisse, China Life, PwC, Deloitte, and Sinovac Biotech. Chow joined KWM as Counsel in 2022, having previously been with Latham & Watkins.
“This senior-level addition to our team comes at a time of increased client demand for advice on restructuring and insolvency matters. I am confident that Tony’s experience will further strengthen our regional R&I and disputes offering and meet our clients’ needs,” said Dan Anderson, Partner and head of Freshfields’ Asia restructuring and capital solutions practice.
Freshfields now boasts 19 Partners in Hong Kong, further solidifying its presence in the region.
