Freshfields Bolsters M&A Team With Notable Silicon Valley Partner Hire
Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer recently announced that Denny Kwon has become a part of the firm’s corporate and M&A practice, based in Silicon Valley.
With 25 years of expertise, Kwon specialises in guiding companies through key M&A and strategic endeavours. His extensive portfolio includes facilitating acquisitions and sales of both public and private entities, orchestrating strategic investments, promoting joint ventures, and overseeing the procurement or divestiture of businesses or product lines.
Ethan Klingsberg, Co-Head of US M&A, praised Kwon’s exceptional legal acumen: “Denny is a fantastic lawyer with a sterling reputation in the Bay Area. His track record of leading numerous significant transactions with care, efficiency, and sensitivity to client needs has made him an absolute favourite among clients.”
Sarah Solum, US Managing Partner, expressed enthusiasm about Kwon’s arrival: “We are thrilled to welcome Denny to Freshfields and our market-leading M&A practice in the Bay Area. His expertise aligns perfectly with the growing demands of our technology and life sciences clients, making him a valuable addition to our firm.”
Kwon himself shared his perspective: “Freshfields’ strong team of M&A partners and its culture focused on client service and satisfaction is what drew me to the firm – it clearly stands out among other leading law firms. I’m excited to join a team of passionate lawyers focused on supporting clients’ business goals with world-class results.”
Freshfields' M&A team stands out as a top performer, securing the number one ranking for Corporate/M&A in Chambers Global, a coveted distinction within the legal world. This dominance extends beyond borders, with the firm claiming the top spot in Bloomberg's cross-border M&A league table (by value) for 2023, cementing its expertise in navigating complex international transactions. Even within the competitive US market, Freshfields' M&A team made a significant impact, cracking the top 10 in Bloomberg's US M&A league table after leading a remarkable $195 billion in US M&A deal volume last year.
Kwon is the most recent addition to Freshfields’ Silicon Valley office, joining a lineup that includes strategic risk and crisis management partners Beth George and Megan Kayo, antitrust litigator Tina Sessions , and Global Chief Innovation Officer Gil Perez.
