Eversheds Sutherland Enhances Environmental Practice in Atlanta with the addition of R. Todd Silliman
In a recent update, Eversheds Sutherland, a global law firm, has welcomed R. Todd Silliman as the newly appointed Head of its US environmental practice and partner of the global energy group based in the firm's Atlanta office. With a specialisation in environmental litigation and regulatory compliance, Silliman brings valuable expertise in assisting clients with adherence to state, local, and federal environmental laws.
In addition, Silliman provides strategic guidance to financial institutions, businesses, manufacturers, and developers, offering his expertise in risk management, environmental liability, and the exploration of potential incentives provided by state and federal legislation.
With nearly three decades of experience in environmental law, he has actively participated in notable brownfield redevelopment initiatives within the United States. Throughout his career, Silliman has demonstrated success in handling prominent cases involving endangered species, NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act), CERCLA (Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act), as well as water and wetland-related matters.
Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Silliman held a partnership role at Dentons in their Atlanta office. During his tenure, he not only served as the managing partner but also co-chaired the firm's US environment and natural resources practice.
"We are excited to welcome Todd to our esteemed Global Energy Group. His extensive background in environmental law will greatly benefit our clients, enabling them to navigate the dynamic landscape of environmental regulations and seize business and development opportunities across various industries," Mark D. Wasserman, Co-CEO of Eversheds Sutherland, said.
"Todd's exceptional reputation as an environmental attorney coincides with the era of innovation and commercial advancements in the energy sector worldwide. Environmental legal guidance is crucial for energy and natural resource projects and plays an increasingly pivotal role in various development projects and transactions,” Partner and co-head of global energy Lino Mendiola III stated.
He further added that Silliman's expertise would offer the firm’s clients vigorous support in complying with existing and forthcoming laws and regulations.
