DLA Piper Strengthens Asia Finance and Projects Team with the Appointment of Partner Brian Youn in Seoul
DLA Piper Strengthens Asia Finance and Projects Team with the Appointment of Partner Brian Youn in Seoul
DLA Piper has appointed Brian Youn as a partner in its Finance, Projects and Restructuring (FPR) practice, based in Seoul. Brian joins from Milbank, where he served as a Counsel in the Global Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance practice in Seoul.
With a strong background in finance law, Youn has advised major financial institutions, including Korean ECAs, sponsors, investment advisers, investment banks, and airlines in various contexts. His expertise extends to financing the development of electric vehicles (EV), large-scale energy projects, oil and gas ventures, mining initiatives, and other critical infrastructure projects.
Youn, who is qualified in New York, is a native Korean speaker and proficient in Mandarin Chinese. His addition to the DLA Piper team significantly enhances the firm’s capabilities in Asia.
Colin Wilson, DLA Piper’s International Group Head of FPR, expressed enthusiasm about Youn’s appointment, emphasising its strategic importance in strengthening the firm’s position in the FPR market.
“Strengthening our FPR bench in Asia has been a long-term strategic priority. Over the past few years, we have appointed key lateral hires in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Singapore. Brian’s appointment in Seoul significantly enhances our offering and positions us as a leading firm in the FPR market,” Wilson said.
