DLA Piper boosts patent litigation capabilities with 30-lawyer team hire from Dentons
DLA Piper boosts patent litigation capabilities with 30-lawyer team hire from Dentons
DLA Piper has recruited a 30-member team of patent lawyers from Dentons, led by Peter Yim. The team will be based at DLA Piper's San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Seattle offices.
The team also includes Christopher Eide, Brian Ho, Randy Omid, Michael Swett, and Parker Kuhl, all of whom are partners, as well as 24 attorneys and six agents and technical advisors.
The team, which includes Yim, Eide, and Ho, joined Dentons as a group from Morrison Foerster in 2017 and is highly respected in the industry for its expertise in patent strategy and procurement.
They have managed critical patent portfolios for major companies in Silicon Valley and beyond, making them well-known thought leaders in the field.
DLA Piper recently welcomed Jessica Hannah, who formerly served as principal and senior managing counsel in the IP litigation group at Apple, to the firm's San Francisco office as a partner.
The former team from Dentons brings extensive experience in patent litigation across the globe, having handled cases in Australia, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, and the UK. They also provide IP support and analysis for clients involved in corporate transactions such as public offerings, financings, and M&A. Additionally, they are known for providing strategic IP counselling to their clients.
“This industry-leading group brings to the firm a vast understanding of the patent landscape in an increasingly competitive global market, and their geographical reach will be an asset to our clients wherever they do business,” Larissa Bifano, chair of DLA Piper’s US patent prosecution practice, said.
According to Sean Cunningham, DLA Piper's global co-chair and US chair of the firm's IP and technology practice group, the addition of this top-notch team of lawyers reflects the firm's dedication to expanding and bolstering its IP & technology offerings. DLA Piper is committed to enhancing its capabilities in this field, and the hiring of this exceptional group underscores that commitment, he said.
“We have the deep resources to support the technical nature of the group’s work, and we’re excited to see their practice grow through our global platform,” Cunningham added.
