DLA Piper Bolsters Insurance M&A Expertise with New Partner Appointment
DLA Piper Bolsters Insurance M&A Expertise with New Partner Appointment
DLA Piper, a global law firm, has announced the expansion of its insurance practice with the appointment of Carl Hotton as a partner in their London office. Hotton joins the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, bringing extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) within the insurance sector.
Hotton boasts a proven track record advising leading international insurance clients on complex, high-profile transactions. His expertise extends beyond insurance, including M&A and corporate transactional matters for financial institutions and technology companies.
This strategic appointment underscores DLA Piper's commitment to strengthening its specialised insurance M&A offering and further reinforces the firm's market-leading, full-service insurance practice across Europe.
“Carl joins our growing global Insurance team at an exciting time, as our insurance clients are increasingly focused on M&A transactions. With our global team dedicated to supporting clients in volatile market environments, Carl’s commercial insight and experience will enhance our ability to help our clients navigate complexity and transform their business,” Benjamin Parameswaran, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper's Corporate Group, said.
John Goulios, Global Co-Chair of DLA Piper’s Insurance Sector, added, “Our global insurance team continues to grow in response to our clients’ needs for specialist cross-border transactional advice and support. Carl’s experience in M&A, JVs, restructurings, reorganisations, insurtech and regulatory matters will complement our existing expertise and will further solidify our position as one of the leading insurance sector practices in the UK and internationally.”
Hotton's appointment follows DLA Piper's recent recognition by Pitchbook as the #1 most active legal advisor in both global M&A and M&A within Europe.
