DLA Piper Appoints Ed Sheremeta As Co-Head Of Real Estate In Tokyo
DLA Piper Appoints Ed Sheremeta As Co-Head Of Real Estate In Tokyo
DLA Piper has announced the appointment of Ed Sheremeta as the co-head of its real estate practice in Tokyo, marking his relocation from Hong Kong where he previously led the same practice.
Ed Sheremeta will work alongside Mick Kataoka, the co-head of real estate in Tokyo, to enhance the firm’s ability to serve clients effectively under Japanese law. This strategic move follows the recent appointment of Partner Ciarán Londra to the firm’s Singapore office, further strengthening DLA Piper’s regional presence.
Susheela Rivers will continue to lead the real estate practice from Hong Kong.
Sheremeta brings nearly three decades of experience to his new role. He began his career at McCarthy Tétrault as an associate in 1995 and has since held significant positions at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Ropes & Gray. After joining DLA Piper as a partner in 2013 and rejoining the firm in 2021, he will now leverage his extensive expertise in real estate investment and finance to enhance the firm’s client services in Japan. His experience includes acquisitions, dispositions, private equity, institutional investments, and joint ventures.
DLA Piper’s recent strategic moves also include the addition of senior counsel Masahiro Wakabayashi and the appointment of Masahiko Ishida as the sole country managing partner in Japan. These developments reflect regional managing partner Satpal Gobindpuri’s commitment to Tokyo as a critical hub in the firm’s long-term strategy and vision for Asia.
