DLA Piper and Al Lawati Law Join Forces to Enhance Legal Services in Oman and the Middle East
DLA Piper and Al Lawati Law, a law firm based in Oman and led by Managing Partner Mehdi Al Lawati, have formed an agreement to join forces and offer legal services to clients.
The collaboration will enhance DLA Piper's current service portfolio in Oman and the Middle East region by providing a smooth and comprehensive legal solution to clients. This partnership strengthens DLA Piper's presence in Oman, where it has been operating for more than 15 years.
Mehdi Al Lawati is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with over 16 years of practice in Oman. He has a proven track record of advising clients on transactions in Oman and the wider Middle East region, particularly in areas such as Capital Market and Securities Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, restructuring & integration, and the formation of investment funds.
His expertise includes providing counsel to listed Omani companies, private entities, and sovereign-owned entities on their regulatory and governance matters. Mehdi's client base spans diverse sectors including energy, insurance, leasing, and financing.
DLA Piper's partnership with Al Lawati Law will complement its existing local office in Muscat, Oman.
As one of the largest international law firms in the Middle East, DLA Piper offers comprehensive services of business legal services in the region, as well as access to its global office network.
“Mehdi and his firm are a talented and well-respected team with significant expertise in corporate and commercial matters. Over the years, they have built up a robust presence in the Omani market. Working with Mehdi and his team will allow DLA Piper to build upon those relationships and further enhance its 15-year presence in Oman,” Peter Somekh, Regional Managing Partner, Middle East and Africa, said.
Mehdi Al Lawati said: “My team and I are delighted to be collaborating with DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms in the Middle East. The firm has developed a significant practice in Oman, and I am confident that collaborating with each other in the region, coupled with DLA Piper’s worldwide presence and expertise, will provide a compelling regional offering.
